Matthew 14:28-30
“And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.” He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.””
Reflection:
Can Peter walk on the water with the help of Jesus? Yes. Absolutely.
Can Peter walk on the water without the help of Jesus? No. It is impossible.
So it is with your salvation. Can you get to heaven with the help of Jesus? Yes. Absolutely. Can you get to heaven without the help of Jesus? No. It is impossible.
When Peter trusted Jesus, he was right to know that he could walk on water. When Peter took his eyes off of Jesus and looked at the great waves, he was right to know that he could not walk on water. When you trust in Jesus and look to Him alone for your salvation, it is right for you to know that you will go to heaven. Jesus has died for your sin and given you His righteousness. Nothing can keep you from heaven! But when you look at yourself for your salvation, it is right for you to know that you will not go to heaven. As a sinner, you can never be worthy of entering perfection.
Can you know today that you are going to heaven? Yes. Absolutely. Look to Jesus and rejoice that it is right for you to know you are going to heaven because of His finished work.
In Christ,
Pastor Yonkman
